As more and more truth comes out, it is time now that we stamp out the divisive rhetoric of COVID misinformation. The CDC and media has worked hard to shame people and cause division. The more the truth comes out, the more we can see that the division was unjustified. But too many people are holding on strong to that division. It is time to put this to rest.
One of the divisions that have been pushed is Vaccinated versus Unvaccinated. The unvaccinated have been told they are not welcome in places, they have been fired from jobs because of their vaccination status amid efforts to mandate the vaccine. They have been called “the reason for the pandemic” and told they were killing grandma. But lets look at what the science actually says about this.
The justification for mandates was the theory that if we got enough people vaccinated, the virus would not be able to spread and would just die out. This is based on the assumption that the vaccinated cannot get and spread the virus. That is the only justification for a vaccine mandate. That is the only justification for firing people who do not get vaccinated. That is the only justification for demanding vaccine passports. If the vaccine does not prevent the vaccinated from getting and spreading the virus, then the whole justification for all of this falls apart. And, we have seen definitive proof that the vaccine does not prevent spread of the virus. In addition, we have seen countries that have reached the highest levels of vaccination, and still have the virus come through and ravage their populations. Regardless of whether the vaccine reduces the severity of impact, the only reason to isolate those without the vaccine has been proven false. There is no justification for vaccine mandates or vaccine passports. We need to stop any and all vaccine mandates and passports immediately, and remove this divisive concept.
The other division we have constantly seen pushed is masks. Again, if you did not consent to putting a piece of cloth over your face, you were a grandma killer. You were an inconsiderate jerk who did not care about anyone else. Never mind that the effectiveness of masks to reduce spread of virus in general was not proven. Never mind that the CDC had earlier told us that masks were not helpful and not to wear one. Never mind that there was no direct correlation we could pull showing that places with higher levels of mask wear had a reduced number of COVID cases or deaths. Never mind that the CDC now says that cloth masks are not enough protection, and instead you need to be wearing at least a N95 mask. Never mind even the end coming to current mask mandates. We need to rid ourselves of the notion that those who chose not to wear a mask are bad people. And by the same token, we need to get rid of the idea that anyone who wears a mask is a sheep.
These two lies have been the main way that has been used to divide us. Some of us have known for a long time that these were lies. But every effort has been made to cancel out our voices, by ridicule, direct attack and censorship. Some are just now realizing that these messages are no longer supported by the science. But many more are still fully convinced of these messages. Many still feel that the only reason that the lockdowns and mask mandates are being dropped is that the virus has ebbed, and that the states can and should reinstate these rules at the next sign of any surge. We need to get the message across that this is not true.
Most importantly, we need to end the division. It is time to stop thinking of ourselves as vaccinated vs unvaccinated, masked vs unmasked, racist vs non-racist, democrat vs republican, left vs right, rich vs poor, privileged vs underprivileged or capitalist vs socialist. I could probably go on for much much longer listing the divisive labels others keep presenting to us to keep us divided. The only way these labels are helpful is in the effort to keep us divided. And that is something that it is long past time for us to put a stop to. We are being manipulated to feel divided. It is time to realize the manipulation and stop allowing these divisions.
